About Joe Lunchbuckett!

Hi Gang,

This is Joe (the bleacher bum) Lunchbuckett and as you probably already know, I love the Cubs! I also love the friendly confines and every inch of the ivy climbing the wall in center field. I loved Harry Carey and singing Take Me Out to the Ball Game with him during the Cubbie's seventh inning stretch.

Like most of you, I collected Cub's baseball cards when I was young and I still have lots of them including Ernie Banks and Billy Williams and lots more. I'm not quite old enough to have seen Gabby Hartnett in person, but my old man certainly talked about him and the good old days when I was a kid.

I mean I have a Cubs logo tattooed all across my DNA molecules. Some of my friends claim I was born at Wrigley Field. And while that's not true, it certainly is true that there's no place I'd rather be on a summer afternoon in Chicago than at the old ball park, catching a few rays, maybe a foul ball, drinking a few beers, and routing for the home team in a double header. Then we often meet at the Billy Goat Tavren after the game and rehash everything that happened earlier in the afternoon. That's heaven in my book.

Let's Buy Wrigley Field…

I also think that, since it's us loyal fans who have supported the Cubs through all the good times and bad, season after season, we ought to check into ways we might buy Wrigley Field and become at least part owners of Cubs Park, kind of like the Green Bay fans who own the Packers. If you agree then have a quick look at this Open letter to the Illinois Sports Facilities Authority who's negotiating with Sam Zell to buy Wrigley Field.

Problem is, with this Bear market and the dollar in the tank, the State is having a hard time figuring out how to come up with the dough. Well, here's a solution for them. They can become co-owners of Wrigley with us the fans and other Chicago residents and we'd all have an ownership stake in the Cub's future. How cool would that be?

I'd love to hear any feedback from any one of you. And I hope you like what you see well enough that you'll register and become a supporter of this true blue people's movement. If you do, I promise to keep you posted on all things as they develop

In the mean time, Go Cubs!
